WDFA’s Orphans Child Education Program (also referred to as a sponsorship initiative) supports orphaned and impoverished children in Uganda, primarily through the Wama Orphanage Home & School in Bugiri with a minimum monthly support of 30 Euros . The program takes a holistic approach to break the cycle of poverty by providing:

  • Essential Care: Nutritious meals, safe shelter, healthcare, love, and guidance in a supportive home environment.
  • Education: Quality schooling at Wama Junior Academy and related facilities, including school fee assistance, textbooks, and materials to address barriers like poverty, poor infrastructure, and gender disparities. This fosters critical thinking, skills development, and resilience.
  • Sponsorship Elements: Financial support for individual or group needs, such as fees, facilities, and resources, enabling children to attend school and thrive.

In 2023, the program achieved notable impacts, including:

  • Providing a home and care for 281 orphans.
  • Offering school fee assistance, sponsorships, and new facilities to 400 students.
  • Distributing textbooks and materials to over 1,500 students in the district.

Success stories highlight the program’s effectiveness. For example, Sandra, raised in the orphanage, graduated with a degree in Environmental Health Sciences and now works as a public health officer. Twins Mukisa and Sarah, both age 6, are excelling academically and socially thanks to the stable environment and education provided

Specific costs for sponsorship are not detailed publicly, but donations directly fund aspects like meals, housing, school fees, and school construction. To get involved or sponsor:
