The Wama Orphanage Home, established in 2015, serves as a safe haven for orphaned children in one of Eastern Uganda’s poorest areas, specifically Ndifakulya village in Bugiri District. It has provided essential care—including housing, clothing, food, healthcare, and education—to 89 children over the years, with an additional 16 girls joining in 2024. These children, often orphaned due to war, poverty, or other hardships, receive holistic support in a nurturing environment that aims to help them escape cycles of poverty. In 2023 alone, the program supported 281 orphans with loving homes, nutritious meals, safe housing, and guidance

The home is set to relocate by December 2025 to a permanent 2-acre site, purchased with assistance from Wama Development Foundation Germany, which will include two completed children’s house blocks and two planned staff houses to accommodate up to 60 orphans. Sustainability efforts include growing vegetables on-site, plans for raising chickens, a drilled water source (not yet fully operational), and an upcoming large solar system for electric cooking to replace charcoal. The orphanage also integrates with the school, with plans to merge facilities to eliminate daily travel for the children.

To support either the home or school, options include monthly donations for food (€800), beds (€100 each), shoes (€30 each), uniforms (€50 each), or contributions to specific facility improvements. Volunteering is also welcomed to directly engage with the children’s progress.
