The end of USAID funding in Uganda, specifically for HIV/AIDS programs, has led to significant disruptions in HIV prevention and treatment, potentially reversing years of progress in combating the epidemic. This includes reduced access to antiretroviral therapy (ART), HIV testing, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), and condoms, increasing the risk of HIV transmission and treatment interruptions. The cuts have also impacted other essential health initiatives, exacerbating the overall public health challenges.
WDFA with various Partners , we are sensitizing and teaching and bringing awareness to first the eastern part of Uganda to combat the wide spread of HIV/AIDS and Malaria . We’re on Day 2 of our impactful dialogues with adolescent youths and young mothers in Buwunga Sub County, focusing on crucial issues like malaria prevention, HIV prevention, TB awareness, and teenage pregnancy. This initiative is made possible through the generous support of CDFU and TASO, and is being implemented by WDFA. We’re grateful for the invaluable support of Hon. Sarah Bagye, the District Youth Councillor, and the energetic mobilization efforts of our puppet theatre team, Busoga Stars.
